Ford Government Announces Enhanced Stay-At-Home Order

The Ontario government just announced the extension of the stay-at-home order for another two weeks. New restrictions will be introduced and enforcement will be ramped up by giving police and inspectors new powers.

We are watching closely to see how the new measures will affect condominium operations and managers in particular. Premier Ford announced that all non-essential construction projects will be shut down. As one can appreciate, most small projects will now have to be postponed. It seems that we will not be able to approach any project for the next two weeks unless is work which if not addressed in a timely manner, can interfere with the safe operation of the buildings and could create a hazard to the residents.

The Ministry of Labour will conduct inspections to make sure all employers implement and follow COVID-19 safety measures for their clients and employees. Work from home is strongly recommended where possible.

For managers who need to travel for work a company letter to state the fact that he or she provides an essential service and needs to travel to a certain address will now be necessary.
